This is a story that I heard over the radio:
Socrates was a great man in this own time. He had a lot of friends; some good and some have other motives.
One day, a friend came to Socrates and told Socrates that he had heard something about Socrates' good friend.
Socrates said: "Before you start telling me the something that you heard, you have to go through my 3 filters."
"3 filters? ok" said the friend.
"Is the something you heard is TRUE?" Socrates asked.
"Well, not really, it is something that I heard along the way. I won't know it is true or not" said the friend.
"Ok, you might pass this filter. The next filter is this: the information that you going to share with me is it GOOD to my friend?" Socrates asked
"On the contrary, no, it is about the bad things your friend did" said the friend.
"Ok, may be let's try the last filter. Is the information that you going to tell me USEFUL to me?" Socrates asked again
"Well, no. The information will not be useful to you." said the friend.
Socrates then said: " If the information you trying to share with me, NOT TRUE, NOT A GOOD THING and NOT USEFUL TO ME. Why then you bother to tell it to me?"
In life, there are things need to be filter away because of their worthlessness. Use the 3 filter to judge carefully. Filter the unwanted and always always remember to find out the TRUE, GOOD and USEFUL for yourself.
